#114 - A Change of Pace 8

Well I'm sure people weren't expecting to see HER again! When originally writing for Heather's character, I was originally planning on having her be set in her ways. After all, she's kind of based on the absolute worst of those kind of people and they in fact don't typically change. However I realized I just wasn't satisfied with how her arc ended.

Well, honestly I cannot say I'm happy about this. John had the whole thing handled and gotten over with. And I agree with you, these people do not change and having Heather have such a sudden change of Heart after being the ultimate bitch about it when they saw each other the last time - it seems unrealistic, to say the least.

And that's where we are in life. It's unrealistic for someone, especially if they're a particularly terrible person, to change. But why is that? Is it because they're truly incapable of it or do we just not want to see it? In all honesty, I think there's some good in everyone, somewhere deep inside. It's an unfortunate reality that a lot of people aren't, but I refuse to believe that it's impossible. Heather is probably not going to be a great person at this point, by any means. But should that mean pushing her away if by some tiny chance she wants to not be as awful as she was?

Of course John shouldn't push her away. If I were in John's position, I'd get in that car 100%; however, I just cannot help but think that after what happened, that limo would never pull up beside him. And I do agree that all people have some good in them (except maybe psychopaths), but having it show like this feels unrealistic to me. That said, I am intrigued by the arch and looking forward to the next strips :)

Oh heck that's more than fair. The fact that she pulls up after everything that's happened is indeed pretty farfetched as reality goes but that's what I like about the world I created for RTS. It's totally possible for something like this to happen in this world. This also adheres to one of John's faults, he can't help trusting people. He really wants to believe that there's some good in everyone, for better or for worse. Don't fret though, if Heather wants redemption, she's going to need to do a lot more than just show up in a limo, rest assured! =3

Psh, rockstars and their entourages don't wear seatbelts! ....But yes, they should actually be wearing them. XD

And if you don't buckle up, be sure you've signed an organ donor card.

Cheryl's "...I'm sorry, what?" is incredible.

There is such a thing as being 'Too Nice For Your Own Good'. The correct response here is for John to say:"No Heather. We have nothing to discuss. Have a nice day." , and then keep walking.

This comic series is great, I really enjoy reading it. Thanks for creating it. A great combination of outlandishness and sincere humanity.
