Not unsafe, and not any less sanitary than doing so clothed, but definitely a bit more flouncy with appendages and mammaries bouncing around. There is a reason the greeks competed naked, but still trained wearing linen and leather bindings.

True, but the Greeks weren’t dealing with sweaty upholstery, pinch-points, and cable machines. Clothing might not be perfect, but it’s still a barrier between skin and shared equipment, especially against sweat and burns and other fluids that come out of us at times.
